Robert C. Jewell and his wife Georgette, beginning in 1957, owned and operated Market Square Shell station in South Paris, Maine. They also operated Porter Tire in Norway, Maine. In 1964, they moved the retread shop of Porter Tire to the old Pickle Shop, located on Western Avenue in South Paris where they retreaded tires and retailed passenger, truck, and light truck tires. They renamed the business Jewell Tire, and eventually sold the Shell Station. Around 1972, Bob and Georgette sold Jewell Tire to Noyes Tire where Bob worked as store manager for the next ten years. Bob resigned from Noyes Tire in 1982 and reopened Jewell Tire on Route 26 in South Paris, which is still in business today. It is now owned & operated by Bob, Georgette and their two sons: Robert C. Jewell II and Jeffrey Jewell.
